Founder & Managing Director, Vitu Zote
Aaron Thuo is the founder and Managing Director of Vitu Zote,
which he founded in 2014. Vitu Zote is a Kenyan home, kitchen and hospitality retailer
working with international brands as well as Kenyan manufacturers and makers.
Aaron’s interests span retail, product development, hospitality and
local manufacturing, with a particular focus on how good design, manufacturing capability
and commercial viability can work together.
In 2023, Vitu Zote was recognised as Kenya’s 2022–2023 national winner in the
International Housewares Association’s Global Innovation Awards (gia) programme. Aaron also serves as
the International Housewares Association’s representative for Eastern Africa.
Through the Vitu Zote Journal, Aaron writes about retail, product development,
working with Kenyan makers and the evolving home and hospitality market in Kenya.
He holds a Master’s degree in Technology from Eastern Michigan
University and a BSc in International Business from USIU-Africa.
